CHRISTMAS BRINGS US CLOSER
I want to take a moment to say Merry Christmas to all of our subscribers and weekly readers. This year has been amazing for the impact that City of Light has been able to have on the Greater Milwaukee community.
We have been able to serve and empowerhundreds of families in Greater Milwaukee. And we have started increasing momentum to build a team that will serve in larger ways in 2016.
Many of your hearts have resonated with the vision to bring people of different ethnicities and experience together to help our area. You have believed in the good that an intentionally multi-ethnic community can do in one of the most segregated cities in the United States. We are excited to go along with you on this journey for our area.
THIS ISN’T NEW
As we celebrate Christmas over the next few days, I couldn’t help but think of the similar theme of unity that this season shares with the movement for unity in our area.
The birth of Jesus brought people together from all walks of life:
- It brought together two scared teenagers who were doing their best to follow the plan of God
- His birth brought shepherds, which were looked down upon by society to see hope of acceptance
- Later His birth brought wise men from what would be considered present day Iran together for a baby shower worthy of a King
And years later, because of Jesus’ sacrifice, His birth brought mankind back to God
Bringing relationships together is what His birth did. We have all experienced the comfort and joy of relationships being formed and growing.
MEND BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS
During this time, I challenge you to be open and look for opportunities to mend broken relationships and form new ones.
People find their greatest fulfillment inside of healthy relationships with others. As we celebrate this season, let’s remember that the most important thing…relationships with others and the sacrifice made to experience a relationship with God.
